Most of the projects in this gallery start the same way: a cleared site, a set of prints, and a crew laying out footings before the first truck arrives. From there we pour the footings, set the forms, and pour the walls in one solid continuous pour. That last part matters more than anything else you can see in a photograph. A poured wall has zero joints for failure, which is the single biggest reason we recommend poured concrete over block for a home that has to stand for generations.

You will also see basement concrete floors, poured and finished flat enough to live on, and retaining walls holding back grade on sloped lots around Western New York. Every one of these was poured by the same seven-man crew, and between them they have more than 70 years of foundation experience. They take real pride in a square, level wall, and you can see it in the corners.

Almost all concrete cracks over time — it goes in wet and shrinks as it cures, and a hairline crack is normal. What is not normal is a foundation that fails, and the cause is nearly always water. Without proper drainage on both sides of the wall, hydrostatic pressure builds up until something gives. So a good share of the work that makes these projects last is not visible in any photo: the footing drains, the backfill, the grade pulled away from the house.
